Web Mama E-cart: Changing site settings and images
Change Site Settings: Choose the "Site Settings" link to the right to update main site variables. Choose the "Fonts & Colors" link to update color values (if you are not using your own CSS file). Choose the "Catalog Setup" link to modify all shopping catalog variables as needed.
If I am designing your website I’ve probably already taken care of this for you or have it included in your CSS.
- Company: Enter your company name, which will appear as a header on your site if you do not have a logo.
- Admin Email: Enter the administration email address you wish to use to be notified about site processes, inventory quantities, wholesale setup, etc.
- Catalog Page: Enter the page name of your catalog, if different from catalog.php.
- Page Extension: Select the page extension of your site pages, if different from .php. Note that you must use mime type setups to use .htm or .html extensions, which is not available on all servers.
- Sm Image Dir: Enter the directory name to which thumbnail images will be uploaded. This directory must be chmoded to 755 or 777 for uploading.
- Lg Image Dir: Enter the directory name to which large catalog images will be uploaded. This directory must be chmoded to 755 or 777 for uploading.
- Category Img Dir: Enter the directory name to which category images will be uploaded. This directory must be chmoded to 755 or 777 for uploading.
- General Img Dir: Enter the directory name to which general site images will be uploaded. This directory must be chmoded to 755 or 777 for uploading.
- Site Message: Enter a web site message to be displayed at the top of each page, if desired.
- Email Link: If you wish to use the email a friend pop up, enter the text you wish to display in that link.
- Meta Title: To display a default page title on your site that is different than your company name, enter that page title here.
- Meta Description: To display a meta tag description on your site, enter it here. 100 chars max
- Meta Keywords: To display meta tag keywords on your site, enter them here. 100 chars max
Add Additional Features: If you want to add additional functionality to your web site, such as a gift registry, affiliate program, guest book, link page, event calendar, wholesale catalog, articles, frequently asked question list, gift certificates, order tracking or coupons, select the appropriate link and use the help screens to set up the feature. All additional features are optional and can be turned off.
Back Up Your Data: Periodically, especially after making many changes or adding several products, you should back up your database. Use the "Backup" link to create a database dump copy. Save the file on your hard drive, then delete the file from your web site so that it is not visible to others.
Loading Images: You can follow the FTP directions in the above section or you can use the cart’s upload feature. If you have any issues with an upload you canusually get around it by uploading via FTP instead.
Many options on your cart will let you load right from the feature you are using. Example would be product additions and thumbnail additions. For all other uploads you will select the "images" area of your store admin. In the image maintenance area, you will be able to upload new images and delete images no longer in use.
Select "Update" under "Catalog Images" to view all the catalog images in your web site. These include images such as your site logo, order and search buttons, and header or navigation graphics for featured and sale items.You may upload images for various areas of your shopping catalog and web site. To upload a new image, click the Upload link, then select Browse to find the image you wish to load. Select `Load Image`, then `Add to Form` to upload the image to your site.
- Logo: This displays an image on the top of your site, if your web template allows you to modify your logo.
- Order Button: This displays an "Order" or "Add to Cart" graphic in your catalog, in place of the general HTML form button.
- Search Button: This displays a "Search" graphic in your site, in place of the general HTML form button.
- View Cart Button: This displays a "View Cart" graphic in your catalog, in place of the general HTML form button.
- Registry Button: This displays a "Gift Registry" or "Wish List" graphic in your catalog, in place of the general HTML form button.
- New Header Image: This graphic appears at the top of the catalog page when a customer selects `New` items.
- Featured Header Image: This graphic appears at the top of the catalog page when a customer selects `Featured` items.
- Sale Header Image: This graphic appears at the top of the catalog page when a customer selects `Sale` items.
- All Header Image: This graphic appears at the top of the catalog page when a customer selects `All` items.
- New Navigation Image: This button is displayed in the page navigation list in place of the `New Items` link. You can upload both a general button and a mouseover button that appears when you mouse over the button, if desired.
- Featured Navigation Image: This button is displayed in the page navigation list in place of the `Featured Items` link. You can upload both a general button and a mouseover button that appears when you mouse over the button, if desired.
- Sale Navigation Image: This button is displayed in the page navigation list in place of the `Sale Items` link. You can upload both a general button and a mouseover button that appears when you mouse over the button, if desired.
- All Navigation Image: This button is displayed in the pagenavigation list in place of the `All Items` link. You can upload both a general button and a mouseover button that appears when you mouse over the button, if desired.
