Web Mama E-cart: Updates
A few clients may see some changes this week. The users of the Web Mama E-cart that were testing Beta Version 2.6 for me will be upgraded to Beta Version 2.62 this week. The first thing you’ll notice is the change in the way the admin area looks. The admin has a more streamlined look that should look familiar to Web Savvy Mama design clients. On your storeadmin home page you’ll also receive updates directly from this blog! You no longer have to check my website to see the latest article or tutorial, you’ll be able to see the last 2 articles each time you login to your store. The next change that will strike your attention is the page editing, the editor now works in both Firefox and IE and the editor itself has changed. The rest of the cart is the same, fixed a few slightly annoying bugs as well.
Those who are running version 2.5 will have the opportunity to request an upgrade to 2.62 as soon as testing is done. Look for updates later this month.
Updates you may be interested in include:
* Inventory Control - For stores using inventory checker, system uses discountpr fields and a return page in Mals to better limit inventory quantities in the cart level
* Master Password - Administrators with master password access can set a separate password and access the admin system with that password instead of the store password, even if the store changes their passwords.
* Spam Control - Keeps spammers from sending http:// text through the contact and guestbook pages and helps check for several different injection types.
* Static Page Support - For servers supporting mod_rewrites, catalog pages are shown in formats such as:
/category_9/Candles.htm
instead of:
/catalog.php?category=9
and:
/item_7/Pink-T-Shirt.htm
instead of:
/catalog.php?item=7&catid=9&return=xxxx
where the words ‘category’ and ‘item’ can be adjusted.
* HTML Editor - A modified HTMLArea is included which will work in mozilla browsers.
* Layout Updates - Product layouts use a common variable page to make it easier to create layout changes.
* Inventory Manager - Allows administrators to manage inventory in groups of items, all at one time.
* Froogle Update - Updated Froogle loader for the new Google Base system. Headers can be adjusted and the file can be printed for review and manual loading.
* Validation - Templates and layouts reworked for transitional validation
* Navigation List - Breadcrumbing now shows product name and its referred category if one exists.
* Gift Certificates - The full certificate number now shows in the administration area. The certificate properly logs when an order is placed.
