New hours of service
A quick note about the new hours of service at Web Savvy Mama. Shown on the contact page.
As most of you know I’m a work at home mom, so this means I often have kids underfoot. I’ve revamped my hours of “in-office” time to reflect a realistic schedule. This also allows me to have time to get the kids off to school and make early Dr apts. Yay, the fun stuff of parenthood! On Fridays I work at the school for a few hours so I am not available in the morning.
If you have a need to talk to me on the phone outside of my business hours please feel free to email me with this request as I am pretty flexible. I want to make sure your questions are answered and I know that daytime hours can be hectic for some! Feel free to email me at any time though. I can not give quote requests over the phone, you will have to fill out the quote request form for that.
**If you are a current client and have a technical emergency during off-hours please DO call and leave a message as well as email me. **
(0) commentsDone with school!
Have I mentioned how great it is to be done with school?! Many of you know I started taking classes last year at the Art Institute in their web design program. I didn’t really need more training in web design but I wanted to be able to say I went to college for web design, fine tune my skills in a few different programs and learn the theory behind web design styles. Over all, it was a great experience. I had my last day of class this week and I’m done. Yay! I can’t tell you how many nights I was up at 2am finishing assignments, lol.
The best part? I made my goal of graduating with straight As. Woo hoo. I don’t think they actually graduate people until December but I’m done with all my classes anyways.
So, a very off topic post, but I thought I’d share!
(0) commentsTrack Your Projects!
Now Web Savvy Mama clients can track their web design project details online!
You can login here: http://websavvymama.com/orders.php to view your project status, project details, and make sure your contact information is up to date. If I’m having a hard time getting a hold of you I’ll note that as well, so you’ll never be left wondering if our communications are getting through!
“How do I get an Order Number?” When you signed up for Web Savvy Mama services you were emailed a confirmation for that order. In that email an order number is provided. If you don’t have that email anymore or for some reason it never arrived (check your spam folder) then go to “forgot my order number” and it will send you the last order number associated with your email address.
“I have more than one order, what do I do?” If you purchased a revision or update to your original order you will have 2 order numbers. This means you will have to check each individually. I will try to make note of the addition in your original order to remind you of this.
If you have a questions about your project status or want to revise your contact information please feel free to contact me with these updates. On the project status page you also will see a note and quick links on the right side to help you through the process.
Not a Web Savvy Mama Client (yet) and want to check this feature out? Go to the Project Tracking page and login using the test information displayed there. You will then get to see a sample project progress page and an example.

(0) commentsNew Portfolio!
While I plug away designing and working on client sites all week, the weekend is for Web Savvy Mama. This weekend I tackled my portfolio pages. Boy, was that long overdue! I’m in my final classes at school and one of them is tackling our digital portfolios, what great motivation to get my butt in gear and get things finished! You’ll now see more categories to browse in as well as a option to view by client! I’m hoping the new layout will making browsing my past and current works easier as well as more eye appealing. Check it out and let me know what you think!

(2) commentsGossip Blog readers get a peek at WSM illustration
Are you a Celebrity Gossip Blog reader? If so, you may have seen some of my work pop up on one yesterday. An illustration I did of Perez Hilton has found its way into the rotating header on his blog PerezHilton.com. With an outfit like that, how could I pass up the opportunity to illustrate it? Sometimes I think I have too much fun drawing, you think?
So there you have it, Web Savvy Mama is turning up everywhere!

(0) commentsAnother cool web site re: Copyright
We know that it’s wrong to copy word-for-word another person’s web site, it’s called plagiarism. Not only is it unprofessional and illegal, but it also can damage your SEO ranking! Of course, not all web site owners know about copyright and some plain don’t care. Yes, it’s sad but true. The fact remains, once you put your text onto the web it’s protected by copyright law, but you need to be ready to protect it!
I found a website recently that had a neat feature that lets you check for other websites using your text. It looks for matches in phrases or even entire pages. CopyScape. Check it out and let me know what you think of it!
